Jalsha was opened in Canterbury in 1993 by the Uddin family, who have been in the food trade for over two generations. They originally started the trade in their native country, Bangladesh, which was the Jalsha Hotel. They had been very successful with the Jalsha Hotel and received many awards, notably for the quality of their food and service.
